Two eyes are better than one

December 31, 2008

Our charms for 2009.  Both have the one-eye DZI bead, our birth signs’ common lucky bead, as the centerpiece.  Hope the year of the ox brings good luck, fortune and health to both of us.  Welcome 2009!

Yearender Snapshots

December 30, 2008

2008 is about to be replaced by a new year. So reflections and resolutions are the things to make now.  But before these, here are some recent snapshots:

My Hon’s gift to me, “Bob Dylan: The Essential Interviews” which I started reading.  I find the book very enjoyable and informative. Reading it is transcendent: it kinda deepens [...]

Christmas Day outside the city

December 26, 2008

Spent Christmas by attending a reunion in my father’s hometown in Quezon province.  Didn’t waste the opportunity to take some shots of vintage stuff.

My grandmothers and fathers on the father side.  My great grandmother is sitting at the center.  My dad is standing, on the extreme right.

Another picture of the Rico family.
We took these family [...]

Christmastime is here

December 23, 2008

The weather is cold especially at dawn, traffic at any given time of the day doesn’t move, lights of different colors are aglow in the streets, your favorite malls are flooded with people who are in a hurry to get gifts and what-have-yous, your godchildren suddenly appear out of nowhere, you have a hard time [...]

I sleeped still

December 21, 2008

Watched The Day The Earth Stood Still half-awake, half-sleep.  Not to blame my jaded mind and body for the zzz.. moment; but the film is horribly bad.  Marketed as a remake to the 1951 movie, this tells the story of an alien in a human body, Klaatu, played by Keanu Reeves, who visited the earth to [...]

A flurry of parties

December 18, 2008

With exactly a week before Christmas, we’ve been attending parties here and there.  Organized one, attended one and will judge in one tomorrow.

FC-Makati goes rock this year.  With my staff gamely wearing their rockin’ cool attires, the party was a blast!

FortuneCare head office party.  We bagged the second prize for the dance contest.  I even won [...]

No Match

December 7, 2008

I’m currently watching the Pacquiao-Dela Hoya “Dream Match,” on delayed telecast in TV; but already got news that the Golden Boy already succumbed to the wrath of our own Pacman in Round 8. The nation rejoices again with this victory, an early Christmas gift to us.   Pacquiao family, folks, friends and neighbors get their usual ”balato”.

“I don’t have the strength to stay away from you anymore.”

Got to see Twilight, the high school romantic movie of the year which was adapted from the best-selling book series of Stephanie Meyer, the next author after JK Rowling who suddenly made reading fictions among teens fashionable.  When the movie started showing, books of the whole series were nowhere to be found in the bookstores.  Blame [...]
