Tragedy of the Gadgets
Whew! 3 laptops, 2 portable memory drives containing my 300 – gigabyte worth of music ripped, downloaded and copied from friends–something that I’ve painstakingly labored over for sooo many years, and all my pictures from 2002 to present suddenly gone…into the hands of burglars who ransacked our house. I only pray that the money from the laptop sale can feed a starving family or buy medicines for the ill, that my mp3 collection be used in a music business venture that can sustain a poor family. The pictures I can’t think of any use for.
Lessons learned: back up all you can (redundancy is key), don’t store laptops, gadgets, or any important stuff all in one place, don’t put the computer back-up files inside the computer bag.
This is the best time to own a new hot laptop. Good thing Torrent is here so I can start re-building my music library. And pictures I will from now on upload to the Net.
Whew! My mind is still cluttered. It’ll take time for me to survive this tragedy. Next practical thing to do: fix the door and buy another lock.
