Just finished reading “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao,”  the Pulitzer-winning debut novel by Dominican-American writer Junot Diaz.  It’s about Oscar, a fat geek who reeks of sci-fi and dreams of becoming a Dominican version of Tolkien and his strange family who are very much alive in their characters that they can live out of the book’s pages.  [...]
