The new job is real work, with lots of things to do, too many ideas to fill up one’s mind.  It’s tiring and mind-boggling at the same time.  The 8 hours in a day isn’t enough to fit in all necessary tasks and plans in mind.  From the time one takes the commute to office in the morning trying to beat the bundy clock to the time one goes home after sundown past six or seven when most office workers are already home resting, work gets into the system and becomes part of the self.

In my first month with the new job, I am admittedly stressed but am happy with work because of a different sense of fulfilment.  When one does things that one really likes, no matter now difficult or heavy it is to accomplish, one will feel a certain lift, a lightness of being that’s quite difficult to reconcile with the amount of work one does.

My boss asked me if I’m submerging.  I replied, “I am swimming.”

To fill in my Sunday morning blues, I got to watch the Nostradamus: 2012 torrent that I downloaded last night.  I never expected the docu to be very realistic and true to what have happened and what still are happening now in the world.  From the disasters, economic crisis, wars and conflicts, poverty, hunger and disease, humanity is indeed in a very precarious situation.  When the sun aligns with the dark and deep center of the Milky Way galaxy on Dec. 21, 2012, every school of philosophy (even religion) agrees that the world will be wiped out by some super cosmic wave on that fateful day.  Either humanity dies or the world gives rise to another life.  But the world as we know it is nothing like us–it is permanent, it can withstand the test of time.  It will just undergo transformation.  But as humans who are just transient beings on earth, we must make our final stand if we want to live long to see the next generation. A new way of thinking, a new way of life is our only way to survive.

Let’s love nature, love one another, and most important of all, love God, the most supreme being there is.

The past week made me dizzy with work.  I spent my last days at the office I left so I was precoccupied with the endorsements, parting messages, despedidas and all.  With no break in-between, I assumed my new position in my new job.  The set-up is totally different.  From private company to government. From manager to technical officer.  As a newbie of course, work is overwhelming but what’s more important is for us to learn the ropes first.  Hope to get this by smoothly and with lesser stress.

From private to government, my career will have its biggest turnaround ever.  With my newly earned MPH, I have decided to chart a Public Health career to realize my personal vision of working for international health organizations.  A lot of considerations came into the decision process–financial, family, etc. but taking this first step seems to be the most sensible thing to do now at this point of my life.  Momentum, youth, and soon-to-be-lost personal freedom are on my side now so I decided to take this calculated risk.  “No guts, no glory!”

Adjustments into the new system I’m entering create some sort of anxiety for me.  But with the good Lord with me always, I will pass all trials that will come my way.

Things went fine and great recently as prayed for, but the prospect of doing something that’s really close to one’s heart came to mind repeatedly, causing an avalance of ideas that might spell my future.  A career transition is on the horizon as I ponder endlessly of what can be, after my MPH.  To stay in my current job, with no signs of personal growth but with fairly OK financial returns, or to enter government service to jumpstart my public health career but with minimal income.  The answer to this needs serious introspection and deep prayers.

Lord, please make me your instrument.  Please help me decide on what you want for me.  On what it is that will give me real fulfilment and happiness.  On what it is that I need to do to bring you greater glory.

After almost 10 years, my dad went home.   And after 30 days, today, he will again leave for the States.  One lifetime worth of memories shared.  A complete family picture finally, one that will stand the test of time… 

May God continue to bless our lovely family.

Up to my neck with work and school lately.  Fieldwork will come soon, right after Holy Week, so we’re doing last-minute tasks to make the transition in the clinic as smooth as possible.  And by the by, we’re also busy reviewing for exams and preparing required reports before the sem ends.  Few months to go and I will already get my MPH.  It’s been tough juggling work and school for almost 2 years.  Hope to reap the fruits of all my labor soon.

The 300+ million pesos worth of Lotto prize money was already won by 2 lucky winners who will share the mind-boggling amount of moolah.  This dissipated my hope of being an instant millionaire.  Lately, we’ve been placing bets like every Juan de la Cruz does.  A sign of the tough times.  With the prices of everything going up, any quick way of making money is on everyone’s mind.  But of course nothing beats pure hard work.  Tough luck is just icing on the cake.

Another winner is my favorite movie of late, Slumdog Millionaire, which just won the Oscars.  Kudos!

I am currently suffering from this.  I can’t start a proper introduction to my speech project that is due next week although the topic should be very familiar to me–my proposal.  My mind is a little bit slow these past few days after Valentine’s.  Probably because of physical exhaustion from going here to there, in the name of love.

I hope my daemon will do his part soon. Help please… While I type this, I am still wordless though the ideas are there.  Can’t seem to be in the moment.  I probably need a big jolt in the head now.
