iPhone VS Pre

June 9, 2009

Apple has just launched its new iPhone 3GS series.  With faster speed and video capability, it is supposed to trample upon the nearest competition thus far, the Palm Pre, which on the other hand is touted as Palm’s redemptive factor, to secure its niche in the PDA business.  What’s more, Apple has lowered the price of the new iPhone’s predecessor by a hundred dollars.  This is a tech war that’s cool and exciting to witness in the next few weeks.

This virus showed up last night as I was surfing the Net. It came from a Radiohead mp3 track that had been dormant in my CPU for months now.  It was activated by something in the net causing Norton to make an alert.  However, much to my frustration, it can’t clean it up up to now.  I was forced to delete the track and the whole folder in which it is contained in safe mode.  Up to now, I feel paranoid about this risk that my Norton can’t do something about.  You can never feel secure while computing these days…

Finally, a true iPhone killer

Almost two years ago, I wasn’t one like the many who fell for the iPhone and its cool features.  Instead of waiting patiently for the phone to be available here or have a unit from the States sent here for unlocking at my friendly Greenhills cellphone store at Virramall (despite the risk of malfunction), I got an iTouch.  I was just after the new touchscreen feature, better photo and video display and wi-fi capability, not the phone and organizer functions which for the longest time had been performed by my trusty Palm Treo 650.  I didn’t have any gadget lust–the exciting feeling triggered by some new gadget in the market that can make me get rid of my current unit.  Not until Palm released their newest model, the Palm Pre.

This convergence smartphone is now touchscreen, like the iPhone, but has a QWERTY keyboard like the Treo, and now, it has a sliding form and in black color. Sexy indeed!  It also has wi-fi connectivity and other features that will give the latest Nokia, Sony Ericcson, and Samsung a run for their money.

I heard this won’t be available anytime soon in the country.  But I would really die to upgrade my phone to this.  Finally, I think that a true iPhone killer has arrived.

This phone is scorching hot!

Ralph!

July 9, 2008

Truly a machine of dazzling beauty and powerful technical muscle, this is Ralph, my new laptop, the HP dv6000 special edition, replacing my trusty almost 2 year-old Toshiba which suffered a lot of multitasking trauma but still is alive without any defect, save for the battery which is beginning to drain very fast now. Set up the important programs already but still having a hard time bringing back other softwares that are not compatible with the Vista.  With new technology comes new problems, aargh!
